Summer is Here at Tea in the Trees!

We've got tons going on at Tea in the Trees and it's about time we shared our news-worthy news!

Facilities Upgrade
We're worked hard this year to upgrade our facilities adding more under-cover space, a new shop and "bar" area and a bigger kitchen. If you haven't been up to see us for the past few weeks please come and check it out. You can sit on our new deck and gaze through the trees at the sea or browse around our small shop full of local crafts. Great news for rainy days is that we have more under-cover seating!

We're Launching New Opening Hours!
Tea in the Trees will now be open all weekend for breakfasts, brunches, lunches, teas and baked treats! Our new opening hours are:
Monday - Friday 10am - 2pm for brunch in the trees!
Friday 6 - 10 pm for the return of Tapas and Tunes
Saturday 8 - 11am for the official Chintsa Park Run (begins December) and market stalls
Sunday 9am - 2pm for delicious breakfasts, lunches and brunches

Find out more details about our new opening times plus up and coming events on our website.

Lunchbox Theatre Hosted in the Forest Theatre
Children's theatre company Lunchbox Theatre were hosted in the Forest Theatre this weekend for the Whale Show. The turn out was fabulous as a whole host of generous people sponsored tickets for a small crowd of local under-privileged children to attend the show and experience live theatre. A huge thanks to the Lunchbox crew and to everyone who supported the show and the initiative.

Wedding @ Tea in the Trees
This weekend Tea in the Trees was also host to the wonderful wedding of Taslyn and Chester. The venue looked absolutely stunning with stretchy tents and decorations, each market stall had it's own fun theme and the forest theatre was dressed for the ceremony.

Keiskamma Music Academy perform in Chintsa

Tea in the Trees Forest Theatre hosted the students from the Keiskamma Music Academy on Sunday 3rd Feb, in Chintsa. The 16 learners who performed in Chintsa are a part of a larger project based in Hamburg where young people are offered the opportunity to take part in a musical education and encouraged to express themselves and enjoy the personal development that comes from this education. Hamburg historically offers few programs like this one and has a high rate of teenage youth social problems like alcoholism, unemployment and teenage pregnancy amongst others.

These young musicians have access to a range of instruments and musical genres and at this concert we enjoyed recorder music, percussion and a brilliant performance from a young flutist. The musical genre passed easily from classical Western music to popular music and traditional Xhosa. What an great experience!

Watch this short youtube clip of the concert...

Thank you to all members of the project who performed in on Sunday and to everyone involved in the Keiskamma Project. To find out more visit www.keiskamma.org.
